Airport Seeking RFP’s For Fuel Suppliers

The Upper Cumberland Regional Airport will be working to get a fuel supplier under contract.

Airport Manager Dean Selby said Shell Aviation currently provides fuel to the airport, but without a contract agreement.

“To be legal with everything, we want to make sure we go out and present it for bid,” Selby said. “We want to make sure that we are doing the best for the counties, governments, airport, and pilots.”

Selby said the board would have a limited number of suppliers to choose from.

“At the end of the day we will probably end up right back where we are. There’s really only four suppliers. You got Shell, World Fuel, Avfuel, and Epic,” Selby said. “I don’t have a problem with the quality of the fuel. We’ve never had any issues or anything tested that hasn’t been absolutely spot on.”

The Upper Cumberland Regional Airport Board voted Tuesday to seek requests for proposals from fuel suppliers.
