The Air Force has re-established a recruiting office in Cookeville.
Technical Sergeant Derrick Childress said the Air Force closed the recruiting office two years ago, but decided to reopen the office last year.
“The Air Force noticed that anyone around here had to go to Nashville or Knoxville to talk to a recruiting officer,” Childress said. “That’s a pretty big commitment just to drive to Knoxville. Now, here locally, they can talk to a recruiter and see how the Air Force can help them.”
The Air Force recruiting office has been up and running full swing since November on Interstate Drive across the street from the John Deer dealership.
