Adams Request For New Trial Denied

The Tennessee Appellate Court upheld the conviction and sentence of a Putnam County man charged with felony robbery.
A jury previously convicted John Adams III of aggravated robbery and sentenced him to eight years in prison. Adams and two other men planned the robbery of the Burgess Falls Shell station in June 2014, pointing a gun at the cashier and taking $100 from the register.
The three men had been doing drugs and ran out, leading to the robbery plan.
In his appeal, Adams asked the court to examine insufficient evidence. Adams’ legal team also said the trial court should not have allowed Adams’ drug use as evidence. Adams asked the Appellate Court for a new trial, but was denied.
