The Good Neighbors Theatre in Byrdstown is back with its annual Christmas Spectacular showcase this Saturday and Sunday.
Director Denise Richmond said that the Good Neighbors Theatre is an organization that does everything from theatrical performances to fashion shows. She said that they also work to bring opportunities for the community youth.
“It has many purposes and one is to provide a drama experience for the local students so that they can be in a play,” Richmond said. “We usually do one play or a musical for the youth every year.”
Richmond said that the organization hasn’t been able to host the Christmas Spectacular for about three or four years. She said that she hopes this showcase can serve as a way to bring the community together in the holiday spirit in the wake of the pandemic.
“We’ve tried to do as much as we can even outside so that the theatre could keep moving on with performances,” Richmond said. “There’s been what we called the dark park where we didn’t really have the theatre open but now we’re open for business and we’ve been going strong since June.”
Richmond said that the Christmas Spectacular is something that will not only entertain, but serve as a reminder of the Christmas spirit.
Tickets are available for $10 for adults with $5 for students. Saturday’s performance will be at 7 p.m. and Sunday’s performance will be at 2 p.m. Richmond said that there will be Christmas refreshments available following performances.
