A total of 467 people across the Upper Cumberland signed up to be Tennessee Promise mentors.
The deadline to sign up was Friday and the region had a goal to get 496 people to sign up before the deadline.
Smith County had the highest deficit with only 14 people signing up before the deadline, which is 15 less than they needed in order to meet student demand.
Tennessee Promise mentors help high school students navigate the college admission process and ensure that students complete the Tennessee Promise Program requirements in order to receive the scholarship.
