Pickett County Executive Richard Daniel said the county will be purchasing the property for the new jail and justice center on November 29th.
After that, the county plans to have bid packages ready by January 15th in order to put the project out to bid.
“We are looking at opening bids in February, awarding the contract and starting construction in early spring,” Daniel said.
The 54 bed facility will be located off of West Main Street in Byrdstown, about a half mile from downtown.
