The city of Algood began preparing for winter this week by purchasing a brand new snow plow truck for the town.
“This snow plow is configured with an automatic salt spreader, which should reduce our salt usage on the streets,” City Administrator Keith Morrison said. “It’s automatically configured to where salt will not dispense when the vehicle is stopped.”
The city’s current truck is 7-years-old and rusted out from salt corrosion.
The new truck will cost the city nearly $153,000, which is slightly over budget.
