Fairfield Glade Police are trying to help keep packages from being stolen off porches this year.
Fairfield Glade Police Chief Mike Williams said a few simple tips can help prevent that from happening.
“If you are going to have a package delivered to your home, have someone there to sign for that package,” Williams said. “Instead of a delivery person leaving it on your front porch for all to see, give the shipper instructions that you want a signature for that package.”
Williams said you can also have your neighbor sign off for the package or have the delivery service to leave the package at their shipping headquarters for you to pick up. Home security devices can also help, he said.
Williams said 11-million packages were stolen across the nation last year.
