Crossville Settles Complaint With TOSHA

During a special-called meeting Tuesday night Crossville City Council members voted to settle a complaint filed against the city by the Tennessee Occupational Safety and Health Administration.

That complaint was filed on the behalf of a former city employee.

“The Attorney Generals Office has now taken up that cause and said if you [city] enter into a settlement agreement then we won’t sue you and you won’t admit any guilt or wrongdoing toward the former employee,” City Attorney Will Ridley said.

The settlement will require the city to pay the former employee $7,170 in back pay.

Details of the complaint have not been made public because of an order from the Tennessee Attorney general.

The cost of the settlement to the city will be $5,000 because of the city’s insurance deductible.
