When the final story of 2017 is written, we will certainly reflect on the number of emergency situations we have seen in our nation. From the devastating waters that took over Houston to the man-made tragedies of Las Vegas….wildfires in California…the ongoing struggles in Puerto Rico. And of course, our state began the year trying to recover from the heartbreak of Gatlinburg. This week, we begin a series examining how prepared the Upper Cumberland is….for an emergency. And as we’ve seen…it could be almost any kind.
We start in an area….you might not consider. How are children cared for in an emergency? A local group stands ready to answer that need. It’s Children In Disasters Upper Cumberland Project. And Sharon Womack has been involved since its 2010 beginning.
