Three People Killed In Sunday Crash In Van Buren County

The Tennessee Highway Patrol has identified three people from Wayne County Kentucky who were killed in single vehicle crash in Van Buren County Sunday.

The deceased identified as 33-year-old Josefa Mateo Gomez, 18-year-old Emily Mateo, and a juvenile.

Officials said the crash happened around 10:30 a.m. on Highway 111 near Baker Mountain Road. A report said Gomez was driving a 2005 Mercury Mountaineer northbound when the vehicle left the roadway, crossed the median, and overturned.

The crash left one person trapped inside the vehicle and six others were ejected. Four people suffered injuries.

The THP said only the driver was wearing a seat belt.
