Smith County’s Hartsville Pike shut down for about four hours today as county crews prepped for a paving project.
Smith County Highway Superintendent Steve Coble said TDOT will be paving the road which is currently being used as a detour for the Highway 25 closure.
“The state has made a deal with the Smith County Highway department because so many are using that for a detour road instead of State Route 263,” Coble said. They [state] will be coming in the week of November 6th to put two inches of pavement on Hartsville Pike to make it safer.”
Coble said he paving project will go from Turkey Creek to Massey Road. He’s urging drivers to be extra cautious on the roadways during this time.
