Juvenile Charged With Arson After Setting Fire At Local Farm

Putnam County authorities have arrested a juvenile who allegedly left Prescot South School Wednesday and set fire to a number of hay bales.

Cookeville Fire Chief Daryl Blair said the juvenile set the fire at a residents farm off South Jefferson Avenue near the school.

“The damage that was done from the fire itself was approximately $20,000,” Blair said. “There was also some damage to his tractor even though he was able to get it out and away from the fire.”

Putnam County Sheriff Eddie Farris said deputies apprehended the juvenile after a short foot pursuit. He appeared in Juvenile court this morning on charges of arson and aggravated burglary for allegedly breaking into a trailer.
