Smith County’s Highway 25 will officially reopen October 31st.
It marks the third reopening date that TDOT has announced since unstable rock forced the road to close in June.
TDOT spokesman Kathryn Schulte said crews will begin paving the the road by the end of this week, but the project isn’t scheduled to be completed until May 15th, 2018.
“There is still a lot of work to be done on the project, including more blasting,” Schulte said.
Schulte said once the road reopens, the contractor will go back to the original blasting schedule which is Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
