Sparta will be holding their annual drug take back event this Saturday.
Sparta Police Chief Jeff Guth said the event will take place at Walgreens from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.
“This program really works and we just want to encourage everyone to bring them out and let us get rid of them for you,” Guth said. “Too often unused prescription drugs find their way into the wrong hands and with the medication and problems we have with opioid abuse, we are just encouraging everyone to please bring them and let us dispose of them.”
Guth said since September 2010 the National Prescription Drug Take Back event has collected 8.1 million pounds of prescription drugs.
