Page Running For White Co. Sheriff

One person has declared he’s running for White County Sheriff.

Steve Page declared his candidacy Thursday. He said running for sheriff isn’t a decision he took lightly.

“A lot of prayer, and discussing it with a lot of true friends that have given me their opinion on things, speaking with my colleagues, and speaking with the other emergency services in White County, it’s time to unite those services and make us all one big team,” Page said.

Even though the primary election is 10 months away, Page has some plans for the office.

“Sparta’s a small community and I want to strengthen the relationships with our governing bodies in White County as well as developing better relationships with our surrounding counties, that’s something we’re kinda lacking in there,” Page said.

At this time, Page is a White County Sheriff’s deputy. White County Sheriff Oddie Shoupe has not announced if he will file for re-election.
