Loose leaf collection begins in Cookeville Monday October 30th.
Officials with the Cookeville Public Works Department have asked residents to avoid calling in about leaf collections. Foreman Timmy Lee said the city has a specific route and patience will be key for city residents.
“We normally start on the east side and work our way across to the west,” Lee said. “We usually have four to five trucks running and of course it takes three to four weeks to complete.”
Residents are asked to place leaves as close to the curb as possible without blocking stormwater inlets, ditches, and structures such as mail boxes, meter lids, and utility lines.
Lee said debris should also not be placed in the piles as it could damage the equipment.
Loose leaf collection runs from October 30th through the middle of March.
