Time To Bring Plants In For The Night

Fall temperatures mean it’s time to start looking at bringing plants in.

UT Extension Putnam County Agent Wayne Key said folks should keep an eye on the weather.

“But it is the time of year, yes, to start thinking about those outdoor plants, plants that need to be moved inside, certainly the time of year when things can get nipped,” Key said.

Frost will hit some areas before others, he said.

“Low-lying areas and areas away from town, away from concrete that have absorbed the heat all day from the sunshine could possibly see some frost,” Key said.

If you have sensitive plants in pots, bring them in the next few nights, Key said. If you’ve got annuals and you’d like to extend their life a bit, cover them with a sheet overnight, then remove that sheet in the morning, Key said.
