Early voting for the 17 Senatorial District special primary election begins Wednesday.
The election is the result of a vacancy created by Senator Mae Beavers. Beavers resigned from her seat to focus on her campaign for governor.
State Representative Mark Pody is on the Republican primary ballot. Wilson County attorney Mari Alice Carfi is the lone candidate on the Democratic primary ballot.
Both will face off in the general election set for December 19th.
The 17th District represents DeKalb, Smith, Macon, Cannon, Clay and Wilson Counties.
