CRMC Foundation Moving Forward On Epi Pen Distribution

The CRMC Foundation donated 50 Epi pens to the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department this week.

Director John Bell said it’s the latest in the foundation’s effort to make sure that organizations all over the Upper Cumberland have the potentially life-saving drug.

“We were thrilled to do that and we were really only able to do it because of a number of donors that support that program and thankfully, the Epi-pen kits are a lot less expensive right now than they were a year ago,” Bell said.

The program started several years ago when Dr. Chuck Womack wanted to make sure schools were taking advantage of programs that supply the drug. At this time, schools in seven counties have Epi pen supplies, Bell said.

“We’d like to get on in additional counties and we’ve got Putnam County covered with the police and sheriff’s department but we’d like to bring on additional counties for that too, so we would love some additional assistance for donors to step up and back that program,” Bell said.

The CRMC Foundation’s primary job is supporting patients at the hospital by supplying necessary drugs and equipment and sometimes even groceries. Donations can be made through the group’s website at cookevilleregionalcharity.org or by calling 931-783-2003.
