TWRA Urges Hunting Safety

TWRA officials encourage safety with deer archery season beginning statewide Saturday.

Spokesman Mime Barnes said safety is a top priority each year. That includes everything from proper clothing and equipment to properly secured tree stands.

“One thing that we would remind hunters of is tree stand safety, we ask them to follow the guidelines of their tree stand and the safety measures that come along with it and we hope to avoid those accidents that tend to occur each year,” Barnes said.

Barnes said all hunters born after January 1, 1969 must have a state hunting license and proof they’ve completed a hunters safety course.
