The Putnam County Clean Commission has a received an aquatic stream cleanup grant from the state.
Clean Commission Executive Coordinator Shannon Reese said the funding will go towards the commission’s efforts to cleanup Window Cliffs State Natural Area.
“We cleaned up last year and got a lot of the stuff, but this comes from Cane Creek,” Reese said. “It constantly gets inundated with trash that ends up in Cane Creek and then follows its way on down through Window Cliffs and into Burgess Falls.”
This will mark the second year in a row that the clean commission has received the grant. Reese said this year’s cleanup at Window Cliffs will likely occur in October or in the spring.
“It’s kind of like inviting people into your home and if it looks littered and not well kept people don’t want to come back,” Reese said. “We are so lucky to have this here in Putnam County and we want to make sure that people see how we take pride in taking care of Putnam County.”
