AEDs Coming To Putnam Sheriff’s Cruisers

The Putnam County Sheriff’s Department recently received 20 AED machines through a federal military surplus program.

Sheriff Eddie Farris said AEDs will be assigned to patrol cruisers. He said the machines will allow deputies to serve as first responders for medical situations requiring an AED.

An Automatic External Defibrillator can be used to give someone’s heart a jump start in certain medical situations. AEDs are becoming popular equipment for schools and other public buildings. Farris said getting the AEDs through the military surplus program saved the department a lot of money.
