The Shoppes at Eagle Point have cleared another hurdle.
Cookeville-Putnam County Chamber Vice President Stephen Crook said the project is moving along.
“The most recent appeal has been thrown out, so we’re working through a final details, the finalization of the purchase of the property would be the next step,” Crook said.
Once the land purchase is finalized, residents should start seeing equipment moving dirt at the site off of Interstate Drive.
“This is a huge project for us, it fills a retail gap in our sector, we really think this could provide a big economic boost, good portion of jobs as well as some sales tax revenue to be able to be generated off this project and a great opportunity for our residents to find new shopping areas and expand on our existing strengths therein,” Crook said.
Crook said the project will include shops and restaurants. No leases have been signed at this point, but Pubix and Academy Sports + Outdoors have committed to the project.
