Lightning Strike Knocks Power Out To Cookeville Electric Customers

A number of Cookeville Electric customers lost power for a brief period of time this morning.

Cookeville Electric’s Karen Brown said the weather can be blamed for the outages.

“We spoke with TVA and they suspect that a lightning strike hit their Great Falls powerline, which caused our south and southwest substations to go off,” Brown said.

Brown said the electric department managed to get everyone back online within 10 minutes.
