Algood Purchases Additional Land For Future Park

Algood’s future park will be a little larger thanks to an additional land purchase.

The future park will now total nearly 22 acres after the city purchased an additional 9.25 acres of property off Main street for $347,000. Mayor Scott Bilbrey said it will be up to the community to decide what the park will look like.

“We are going to having meetings coming up for the citizens to tell us what they want to in the park,” Bilbrey said. “It’s the citizens park. It’s not the city council’s park. It’s the citizen park and we want them to have exactly what they want in that park.”

Last week the city purchased 12.6 acres of property that adjoins the latest addition. Both land purchases totaled $760,000.

Bilbrey hopes to have part of the park usable by next spring.
