Monterey Lions Need Disaster Response Volunteers

Monterey Lions Club Disaster Response Team Director Ken Hall said in 10 years of responding to disasters, he’s never seen devastation like he’s seen in Houston.

The group left Friday morning, stopping in Louisiana before moving on to Corpus Christie, then Houston.

Hall said the team needs more volunteers to assist with cleanup later in the week.

“Warm bodies, that are willing to sleep in their truck, pay for their own food, then we’ll pay for their gasoline to get here and back, that’s how we operate. So you have to have a volunteer’s heart to want to sleep in your truck and pay for your own food,” Hall said.

The Monterey Lions Club Disaster Response Team is small and only has the ability to help one family at a time, Hall said. Volunteers can message Hall through the group’s Facebook page or call him at 931-239-3318.
