“Tens Of Thousands” Here For Eclipse

People came from all over the country and the world to view Monday’s eclipse.

Cookeville-Putnam County Chamber of Commerce Vice President of Visitor Development Zach Ledbetter has been tracking data all week.

“I do know through data I’ve gathered through social media searches and some hotel data, we had at least 40 states and 15 countries that were represented for eclipse weekend,” Ledbetter said.

Many of those who visited arrived Friday or Saturday, some stayed until Tuesday.

“But we know that these were here specifically for the eclipse, it’s just really neat to see, especially some of the countries, we had Argentina and Australia, Germany, the Netherlands, Puerto Rico and Spain, that’s obviously just a few of the 15 countries,” Ledbetter said.

Ledbetter said it was impossible to know exactly how many visitors were in town for the eclipse, but estimated in the “tens of thousands.”
