White County students viewed the eclipse in school.
White County Schools were the only Upper Cumberland district in session during the eclipse Monday.
“Our teachers started planning back in the spring, we had meetings all this summer, periodically throughout the summer to get ready and plan, those meetings involved safety, preparations and of course also just great learning opportunities, so all over the county, all grade levels, all classes,” Director of Schools Kurt Dronebarger said.
Many visitors were in White County for the eclipse, but there were no problems and no delays, he said.
“We were certainly prepared and ready, we certainly knew the risks involved, but our teachers did a great job of planning and executing those plans it was a fantastic day,” Dronebarger said.
Dronebarger said parents and teachers alike have said they appreciated the decision to hold classes that day.
