Putnam Emergency Services Pleased With Eclipse Prep

Putnam County’s emergency services prepared for the worst but said the eclipse turned out to be the best.

911 Public Safety Coordinator Brandon Smith:

“Everything went really well, yeah, we were prepared for it to be a whole lot worse than it was, and turned out that it wasn’t as big of a deal as we originally thought it was going to be, but I think if we were to do it again, we’d do it the exact same way just so we’d be prepared for the absolute worst,” Smith said.

Smith said the preparations were an excellent training opportunity.

The 911 Emergency Operations Center was activated, something that usually only happens in serious situations. It was last activated for the Memorial Day storms.
