Accidents Snarl I-40 Traffic In Cumberland County

Two separate accidents involving tractor trailers snarled traffic on I-40 in Cumberland County early Thursday.

Both accidents occurred in the westbound lanes. One occurred shortly after 3 a.m., one shortly after 5 a.m..

THP Lt. Jimmy Neal said no one was injured in either crash. Troopers kept one lane westbound open at all times.

As of 8:40 a.m. Thursday, both westbound lanes at mile marker 328 were open. One lane was still closed at the 325 mile marker, but TDOT expected it would open soon.

There’s no word yet on what led to either crash.
