Smithville Hires Animal Shelter Director

Smithville aldermen voted to hire Megan Moore as the director of the new animal shelter.

A joint venture between the city, DeKalb County, and DeKalb Coalition for the Humane Treatment of Animals. The shelter is in the final construction stages and should open soon.

Moore was recommended by the coalition’s board of directors. She holds an animal science degree from Tennessee Tech and has served as a veterinary assistant for the past three years.
