The Crossville City Council is discussing the possibility of charging a fee for events that force certain city streets to be closed.
Officials said charging a fee for such closings would help pay for services rendered such as trash pickup and police presence.
City Manager Greg Woods has recommended charging single businesses that would hold events. If several businesses got together for an event the city would consider that to be a community event and no fee would be charged.
The city has already set a policy for 5K walks and races. Sponsors for those events are charged if they use routes other than two specific routes selected by the city.
