A woman escaped injuries this afternoon in freak automobile accident in Putnam County.
Baxter Police Chief Danny Holmes said one of his officers responded to the accident that took place on Highway 70 at Prosperity Point.
Holmes said the accident occurred when pieces of lumber fell off a moving truck and slammed into the windshield of a vehicle.
“When the truck stopped the car stopped in front of the driver and the wood went through the the back windshield and front windshield,” Holmes said. “It was one of those freak accidents, but luckily nobody was hurt seriously.”
Holmes could not identify the people involved in the crash or provide any additional details. The Tennessee Highway Patrol was in charge of investigating the crash.
