Cookeville Signs Grant Contract For Skate Park

Approximately one year ago Cookeville Mayor Ricky Shelton announced that the city received a $400,000 grant from TDEC to help build a skate park in town.

Earlier today Shelton said the city received and signed the grant contract this week and will choose a design firm in the near future.

“That firm will come to Cookeville and work with our community committee and staff to help design the best possible skate park at the Park View Pool area,” Shelton said.

The city has already budgeted the 50-percent local match for the grant and construction could begin by December.

Preliminary designs have the skate park being completely concrete and between 10,000 and 15,000 square feet.
