Man Rescued From Ozone Falls Monday

A man had to be rescued from Cumberland County’s Ozone Falls Monday evening.

Around 30 members of the Cumberland County Rescue Squad and Cumberland County Fire Department responded to the scene.

Assistant Fire Chief John Hall said a hiker slipped and fell at the base of the 110-foot waterfall.

“It was a pretty simple operation,” Hall said. “We just went down to him, put him in a rescue basket, and carried him out with a low angle rope system to help hoist the basket up the trail.”

The injured man received treatment at an area hospital and is listed in stable condition.

Ozone Falls sits off of Interstate 40 near Highway 70 East. It’s a 43 acre natural area that was selected for filming scenes of the movie Jungle Book.
