Carthage’s SR 25 Closed Until Sept. 4

State Route 25 in Carthage won’t reopen until September.

TDOT said it shut the road down in June after rocks slid off the hill above and onto the road.

Tuesday, TDOT said the road would be closed until September 4. The original end date was August 1. TDOT said the contractor ran into more loose rock in the construction area.

A $4.1 million project to fix the problem began in the spring. That project will set the bluff back about 60 feet.
