Record Number Of Promise Scholars Volunteer At State Parks

More Tennessee Promise scholars volunteered in state parks this year than in the past.

Tennessee State Parks held a statewide volunteer day at the end of June. More than 800 students showed up. That’s a 40 percent increase over last year, TDEC said. Students planted flower beds, painted trail signs and installed playground equipment at all 56 state parks.

Promise scholars are required to log eight hours of community service per semester. The scholarship pays tuition and fees at community colleges statewide.
