A Baxter man is facing several charges following a high speed pursuit in Cookeville this morning.
Darryl Vantrease is charged with aggravated assault, reckless endangerment, DUI and evading arrest.
According to a report, a Cookeville police officer spotted Vantrease in a Chevrolet Impala driving northbound in the southbound lane of Highway 111. When the officer attempted to stop the vehicle Vantrease’s car nearly collided head-on with the officers patrol vehicle.
Authorities used spike strips to stop Vantrease on Highway-111 in White County. Vantrease remains behind bars under $15,000 bond.
