Upgrades To Byrdstown Community Center Underway

Upgrades to the Byrdstown Community Center began Wednesday.

Upgrades include a new roof, duct work, windows, doors and insulation. County Executive Richard Daniel said the community center is typically the most expensive building in the county to operate.

“We are also installing LED lighting,” Daniel said. “So instead of being one of the most expensive buildings to heat, cool, and provide lighting to it should be one of the more cheaper building to operate once we finish the project.”

The project totals about $300,000 and a clean energy grant will provide $129,000 to cover part of that price. Taxpayers will pay the rest of the cost.
