Body Of Missing Woman Recovered At Cummins Falls

Search crews have recovered the body of a missing woman at Cummins Falls State Park.

The body of 73-year-old Peggy McDaniel was found Friday afternoon.

McDaniel went missing Wednesday when a flash flood ripped through the park, stranding nearly 40 people.

During a search for McDaniel on Thursday, search crews located another body identified as 45-year-old  Lisa Michelle Tufts-Hillian of Sales Creek, Tennessee. Authorities confirmed Friday that Tufts-Hillian had came to the park from Hamilton County to assist with recovery efforts.

Jackson County officials and McDaniel’s family confirmed the news during a press conference Friday evening.
