Just days before Slide CKVL begins, Mayor Ricky Shelton said a few volunteer slots are still open.
“And we’d love to have people out, it takes a couple hundred volunteers to put this on, so appreciate anyone who’d be willing to serve in that capacity,” Shelton said.
Shelton said there’s several volunteer spots available, particularly on Sunday. Those who volunteer for a 3-hour shift can receive a free T-shirt or an unlimited slide ticket, Shelton said.
“If you want to be involved in a fun event, see a lot of people, it’ll be warm out, get a little wet, get some of the volunteer swag we’re talking about or just because you want to be involved, different motivations for different people, but it’s fun,” Shelton said.
Slide CKVL is part of the city’s Red, White and Boom! Independence Day celebration.
