A White County man faces several charges after using his head to break the back glass of a sheriff’s patrol car.
White County Sheriff’s Detective Chris Isom said Robert Joseph Schill became combative and struggled with officers, then used his head to break through the back glass of the police cruiser.
“Officers immediately tried to render aid, which he refused, and then when the ambulance arrived, they tried to get him to receive aid and he again became combative,” Isom said.
Schill was arrested Monday at a home on Bon Air Mountain. He was taken to St. Thomas Highlands Hospital for treatment. He’s been charged with violation of bond conditions, resisting arrest and vandalism.
Isom said domestic violence calls are particularly dangerous for officers and the public.
“Where people will go from being compliant and answering your questions to becoming unreasonable and violent because that’s exactly what happened in this case,” Isom said.
He said Schill became violent after officers told him they knew he had violated his bond conditions on a Cumberland County domestic violence charge.
