Cookeville Police Hiring Victim Service Coordinator

Cookeville Police plan to hire a victim services coordinator.

Major Carl Sells said person chosen will have an important job.

“Oftentimes there are people who are victims of crime, especially violent crime, who are in need of assistance through the legal process,” Sells said.

That assistance includes guiding victims through the system, making sure they have documents they need and are aware of hearings. Sometimes, they can even connect victims with grants for counseling.

“We’ve needed for quite some time, but we never had the mechanism in place to get that accomplished. We’re being able to create and fill this position because of the availability of a federal grant that’s being administered by the state of Tennessee,” Sells said.

Applications will be taken until June 30.
