Dronebarger Celebrates First Year As Director

White County Director of Schools Kurt Dronebarger just finished his first year in the director’s seat.

Dronebarger served 10 years as a teacher at White County Middle School, then spent 8 years as an elementary school principal.

In the last year, White County has had some big announcements. Last fall, the county opened it’s career and technical education center adjacent to White County High. This year, they’re looking at construction of a new Findlay Elementary and an athletic complex at White County Middle School.

“The biggest pro is that you get to take big swings at exciting projects like that, you take big steps in education, you get to hire people for exciting jobs and those are the biggest pros. The cons are, everything you do is about students, but you’re never around students,” Dronebarger said.

One additional pro, Dronebarger said he believes students are happiest with his leadership when he declares a snow day.
