This summer brings many changes to White County’s Findlay Elementary.
Director of Schools Kurt Dronebarger said progress is moving forward on construction of a new school and it’s got a new principal.
Long time principal Gary Alspaugh (All-spa) retired at the end of the school year. Now Rebecca Ryan will take the job.
“She is a fantastic math teacher at WCHS, she’s such a good leader that I hired her to be a principal,” Dronebarger said.
Ryan is one of nine finalists for Tennessee Teacher of the Year.
“Ms. Ryan is super responsible, very mature, she’s been doing a lot of great leadership things at the high school, she’s up to this challenge, she’s working hand in hand with Mr. Alspaugh right now and she’s going to do a great job,” Dronebarger said.
Just a few months ago, the White County Board of Education decided to build a new Findlay on county land adjacent to the school. Construction plans and a land swap are being finalized now.
