Gainesboro Man Charged With Child Rape

Putnam County authorities have charged a Gainesboro man with rape of a child.

53-year-old Joe Edward Cherry was arrested this morning. He’s also charged with two counts of aggravated sexual battery.

The alleged rape happened on New Year’s Eve in 2015. Authorities have not released details about the incident or the age of the victim.

Cherry is expected to appear in Putnam County Criminal Court on July 10th.
