Smithville Water, Sewer Rates Going Up

Smithville water and sewer rates will go up next month.

Leaders approved the increase as part of the budget process. The DeKalb Utility District will stop being a city water customer soon. That leaves a $775,000 loss to the city.

As of July 1, city water customers will pay $7.25 for every thousand gallons of usage. Those who live outside the city will pay $10,88 per thousand gallons.

City sewer customers will also see increases.
