A host of special events are planned across the Upper Cumberland to mark the Memorial Day weekend.
Ceremonies will take place in Cookeville, Livingston, Sparta and Smithville, just to name a few.
Putnam County Veteran’s Services officer Mark Harris said it’s an important time to recognize those who have died in the service of our country.
Cookeville’s Memorial Day service begins at 11 a.m. Monday on the west side of the Putnam County Courthouse. Jefferson Avenue will be closed at that location for the event.
Livingston’s ceremony begins at 10 a.m. on the courthouse square.
Smithville’s ceremony will be held at the county complex. Special music begins at 9:30 a.m. with the ceremony beginning at 10 a.m.
Sparta’s event will begin at 10 a.m. at Veteran’s Park.
