Caleb Cannon Found Guilty In Murder Of Nikki Burgess

A jury has found Caleb Cannon guilty of murdering a former Cumberland County resident.

The verdict returned Monday after a week-long trial. Cannon was accused of killing Nikki Burgess in May of 2014. Authorities say she vanished from her Hermitage home and her body has never been found.

Cannon received an automatic life sentence and no sentencing hearing will take place.

A former cellmate had previously told investigators that Cannon confessed to killing Burgess and dumping her body in Knoxville.

Police have previously stated that money and custody of Burgess’s son was the motive.
